Job Summary


As a Sr. DevOps/Solution Architecture Manager in the Engineering Cloud Operations organization, you are responsible for building, leading and managing a team of engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management, and management of resources within the team. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, work well in a dynamic high output environment, communicate clearly and frequently, and have a consistent track record of delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Summary Description of the Ideal Candidate:

This role will work closely with product management, engineering, program management and technical operations teams to improve adoption, support enhancements to user experiences and platform services. This role will also work closely with external partners and vendors to deliver and optimize Cloud and On-prem solutions.

Provide mentoring and manage resource allocation. Lead design and solution reviews for engineers, driving feedback and progress. Build high performance, stable, scalable systems and solutions, participate in strategic planning, collaborate with other teams and leaders, and own architectural and operational excellence to achieve technical and business objectives. Define technical direction and use metrics to measure adoption and improve the quality of the end user experience. You will identify risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve them.

You will be providing guidance and leadership to a team that is responsible for NetApp's internal engineering infrastructure and Cloud services. Areas of responsibility include delivery of private and public cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, virtualization platform solutions and services. You will engage in large and small projects, working through analysis, design and implementation to deliver viable Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions to solve NetApp engineering challenges.

Essential Functions:

A major part of your responsibility will be to provide direction and supervision to a group or groups of Engineers responsible for:


  • Functional and Design Specifications

  • Development and Test design specifications planning

  • Identify opportunities in and to shared technology services

  • Own the technology/infrastructure and documentation of requirements including capacity, availability, scalability, resiliency, security, etc.

  • Drive delivery of technology solutions roadmap related items across new and existing solutions, and give presentations on upcoming initiatives

  • Develop and implement new projects, policies and procedures for the department(s); and ensure that project goals are met

  • Develop quarterly and annual budget collaboratively with senior management

  • Take responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing

Requirements:


  • Strong people management skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

  • Experience in solution architecture design

  • A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees.

  • A clear understanding of end-to-end solutions, technical requirements and project management.

  • Experience with DevOps technologies such as Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, etc.

  • Experience with Containers and orchestration services like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.

  • Understanding of fundamental network technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, Proxies, SSL, TCP/IP, SQL, HTTP.

Management and Interaction:

Management:

This position is responsible for managing many tasks within a group or department.

The focus of this role is on business and its implication.

The potential impact of decisions made by this individual will be mostly operational with some financial.

This individual will apply attained experience and knowledge to address issues that are diverse in scope and resolve problems through short- and mid-term planning.

This individual must work effectively with staff to vice president level employees and employees within and outside of their department and function.
