The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining standard costs, ensuring materials transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with policy, and providing financial analysis for three Dallas area manufacturing plants. The position will provide reporting of cost trends, quantify commodity inflation, and partner with the operations team to help manage their budgets and identify cost savings opportunities. The Cost Accountant will report to the Plant Controller and provide financial support to plant leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain standard costs for 3 Dallas production plants


• Partner with materials teams to measure and continuously improve cycle count accuracy


• Work with materials teams to minimize and disposition excess and obsolete materials timely


• Provide assistance to plant leadership to manage budgets and identify cost savings opportunities


• Develop recommendations to improve procedures and streamline work flows


• Assist in implementing procedures and internal controls to maintain compliance with Cornerstone Building Brands accounting policies and SOX requirements


• Review and analyze key financial accounts and resolve discrepancies


• Assist plant leadership in management of leases


• Create, maintain, and distribute accurate and timely management reports


• Provide documentation for internal and external auditors as required


• Perform month-end close procedures including journal entries and account reconciliations


• Provide financial oversight and assistance to operations management to ensure accurate and efficient physical inventory counts


• Assist Plant Controller with budget and financial forecasts as needed.


• Perform ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management

REQUIREMENTS

• B.S. in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.


• Three to Five years Accounting experience in manufacturing


• Solid knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, specifically SOX 404.


• Ability to work effectively on a team and help lead a continuous improvement culture


• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills


• Excellent leadership and human relations abilities.


• Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures.


• Excellent Excel skills and understanding of applicable software preferred.
