Overview:

The Patient Care Associate (PCA)works under the supervision of the RN/Charge Nurse and rreports the Emergency Department Manager. The PCA is responsible for assisting with the delivery of patient care within the scope of Mercy's policies, protocols, procedures and standards of practice of the PCA scope. The PCA must conduct themselves in accordance with Mercy's Code of Conduct and Service Standards. This position may performs clerical and receptionist duties as needed in the Emergency Department.

Qualifications:

• 
  Experience: None required.


• 
  Preferred Experience: Previous experience in the medical field
  


• 
  Required Education: GED or highschool equivalent.


• 
  Preferred Education: Basic microsoft word and excel classes, classes on basic anatomy and/or knowledge or human anatomy and physiology


• 
  Certifications: Obtain BLS (Basic Life Support) and SAFE training prior seeing patients independently.


• 
  Other: Basic computer skills, excellent communication skills andphone etiquette, able to multi-task andfunction under high stress situations


• 
  Preferred Other: Proficient at performing ECGs, use of computer, fax machine, copier and scanning device
