Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Clearance the Supervisor, Financial Clearance is responsible for supporting the day to day department operations for assigned area via workflow management, data analysis, and quality control of financial clearance activities. In this role, the Supervisor is responsible for assisting in reviewing work schedules, individual performance evaluations, on-going training and maintaining of departmental and enterprise wide policies and procedures applicable to financial clearance activities. The Supervisor, Financial Clearance must have a clear understanding of revenue cycle processes from the time of scheduling, through the insurance verification processes performed during pre-registration, familiarity of governmental and non-governmental payor, managed care contracts, regulatory requirements for billing purposes and professional competency to maximize reimbursement and minimize financial risk to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Critical to this position, the Supervisor, Financial Clearance must be able to identify, analyze, and develop solutions to team/group related problems. The Supervisor, Financial Clearance will be responsible for scheduling and organizing work assignments, formulating processes for the assigned area, including validation of insurance verification, validation of medical necessity review, obtaining prior authorization/referrals, and preratification to financially clear patient and on demand informing patients of any potential financial responsibilities. Other duties include ensuring quality performance by completing audits on all staff. This position requires the ability to research payor websites, policy manuals and other billing tools to share information and continually educate and train team members. In addition, the Supervisor, Financial Clearance will provide management support and coordinate the development, implementation, and review of departmental protocols. Must be familiar with Human Resources policies and procedures to conduct performance appraisals and make recommendations on selection, promotion, merit increases, and employee discipline.

The Supervisor, Financial Clearance is responsible for establishing relationships at all JHM facilities and be familiar with each institution's computer systems and payer contracts. The Supervisor, Financial Clearance must demonstrate problem solving and leadership abilities including professional verbal and written skills.

Education:

Associate's Degree in Health Administration, Finance, or related field. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration or Finance is preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years supervisory/lead experience role

At least four (4) years recent healthcare revenue cycle experience, preferably in an integrated

healthcare delivery system, in Patient Access

Demonstrated experience in team building and quality management concepts to positively influence

the work environment

Licensure/Certification:

Successful completion of departmental training program and all related competency assessments.

Certification in various computer systems as necessary.

HFMA or NAHAM Certifications preferred

Shift:

Full Time, Day Shift (40 hours)

8:30am - 5:00pm
