Job Description

UMMARY
Serves as an internal consultant to organization leadership for enabling the execution of key process improvement projects. Leads, facilitates, coaches and supports cross-functional teams to improve and redesign clinical and operational processes critical to safe, high quality, efficient, patient and family-centered care. Supports the organization's efforts to adopt consistent, effective policies and procedures related to process improvement, developing and training leadership and project teams to employ.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP:
Provides project leadership, coaching, and facilitation for complex cross-functional Lean/Six Sigma Black belt level continuous improvement projects at executive management and operational levels of the organization using Lean process improvement and other appropriate methodologies such as Six Sigma to accomplish measurable and beneficial impacts to the system strategic priorities..

Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses to support attaining project team goals and objectives, trains/coaches members in the use of process improvement principles, methods, and techniques, identifies opportunities, develops solutions, implements improvements and helps operational management ensure sustainability. Develops project plans for each initiative; provides up-to-date status reports on all projects; identifies and resolves project issues. Tracks sustainability of Lean projects.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP:
Acts as a leadership change agent to instill Lean culture throughout the organization. Communicates regularly with executive sponsors, team leaders, process owners and other stakeholders about team progress toward goal achievement, critical factors and obstacles. Working with other operational leaders, responsible for dissemination of process improvement project successes to other areas of the medical center.
Independently coaches black belt level candidates towards their certification with minimal input on coaching from their direct supervisor. Creates content and provides training on Lean/Six Sigma subject matters including Shingo Model independently without being coached or supported by other Black Belts. Can independently train and coach on all Lean/Six Sigma tools used at Connecticut Children's.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT:
Participates actively on the Connecticut Children's Leadership Team, contributing ideas, opinions, and participating in group decision-making.

INITIATIVE/LATITUDE:
Exercises initiative and latitude in the implementation of process improvement activities to support the
strategic objectives of the organization.

SELF DEVELOPMENT:
Establish and maintain self as a professional expert and resource to the Organization, patients, families and the Community. Participate in appropriate professional organizations and continuing education programs.
