OBJECTIVE

Supervise Truss Workers in the production of quality trusses.


The pay range for this position is $19.20/hr - $28.80/hr depending on experience.

INTENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION AND MODIFICATION
This job description describes the duties and responsibilities, qualification requirements, physical demands, work environment, etc. for this job. Duties may be combined with other jobs or duties from other jobs depending upon operational circumstances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Oversee production activities. Prepare equipment and materials for start up and shut down of assigned shift. Adhere to established production schedules.
2. Monitor quality of trusses produced to assure trusses meet customer requirements and are assembled according to approved engineered drawings.
3. Monitor inventory levels of lumber and truss plates to assure uninterrupted production of trusses.
4. Oversee the packaging and loading of customer orders on trucks to prevent breakage of truss parts. Check contents of truss packages against customer orders to assure accurateness of deliveries.
5. Schedule and dispatch customer deliveries to job sites. Supervise and monitor Truck Drivers to ensure compliance with delivery schedules.
6. Supervise Associates in the accomplishment of assigned duties. Trains Truss Workers, Forklift Operators and Truck Drivers in operations as needed.
7. Monitor performance of machinery and recommend maintenance. Perform required safety inspections. Direct Associates to maintain clean work areas according to Company standards including disposing of debris and restocking unused materials.
8. Ensure compliance with Company operational safety and security policies and procedures.
9. Perform duties and responsibilities of Forklift Operator as needed.
10. Perform duties and responsibilities of Truck Driver as needed.
11. Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.
12. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises up to 20 Associates at a truss manufacturing facility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid driver's license of the appropriate type and class issued by the state of residence to operate the size and type of Company truck assigned is required. If the Company truck assigned is subject to Federal Department of Labor regulations, a valid Commercial Driver's License is required. Furthermore, the driver's record must be acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier and must conform to all restrictions listed on the license in order to operate any Company truck or vehicle


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Good interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of truss manufacturing is required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The Associate occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
