PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics;
Support the Roadmaster to ensure safe, reliable track infrastructure and cost effective engineering services on the geographic territory to permit the safe and efficient train operations;
Provide professional oversight and deliver regulatory compliance for respective geographic territory as required under regulation to ensure safe, compliant infrastructure is maintained.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist the Roadmaster in ensuring the application of CP safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct reports;
Assist the Roadmaster with the delivery of specified safety, compliance, service, and financial outputs/results expected within their geographic territory, and implements work processes changes that achieve continuous improvement;
Directs, coordinates, and/or implements emergency response to service interruptions for geographical territory and maintains/executes seasonal plans related to winter, spring/flood, and fire;
Assists Roadmaster with the management of employees within the Terms of the Collective Agreement and assists in handling disputes and grievances;
Establishes/maintains cross functional relationships within their geographic territory and ensures clear cross functional working relationships between all direct reports;
Assists Roadmaster with current year execution and assists with gathering information for annual/multiyear capital planning priorities;
Monitors quality assurance of TP&E projects.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues;
High school graduation or (GED) General Equivalency Diploma is required;
Post-secondary education and training an asset;
Knowledge of Collective Agreement language;
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Engineering Department as Foreman and/or Supervisory experience is preferred;
Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written;
Demonstrated capability to apply relevant knowledge and technical skills to monitor adherence to CP policies and standards as well as regulatory requirements;
Capability to develop and manage a project plan/schedule;

Management Conductor Program:
