Perform duties in a safe manner. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Perform duties according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure that required data is properly documented in a timely fashion according to the current SOPs.
Duties include sample handling, transfer of samples to microassay plates, and measuring and preparing of reagents.
Perform preparation of samples for analysis following prescribed methods, SOPs and best practices, and delivery of data. Report deviations from SOPs, or unexpected results in a timely fashion.
Follow defined methods and SOPs to assist in processing of DNA samples for genotyping.
Routinely monitor laboratory procedures to ensure that all activities are performed according to the current versions of the SOPs.
Ensure proper operation of laboratory equipment by calibrating, completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories.
Maintain laboratory supply inventory by monitoring stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, and notifying appropriate personnel.
Contribute to the continuous improvement process.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science degree is preferred
0-3+ years of relevant experience; Genetics experience preferred
Proficient in pipette usage, centrifuge usage, sample handling, DNA extraction, and processing a variety of sample types
Familiarity with laboratory, safety, and sample handling procedures
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) applications
Strong communication skills, time management skills, team orientation, and work ethic
Must be detail oriented and accurate
