PURPOSE/SCOPE:

This is aday shift salaried supervisor position in a distribution center.This person supervises all activities associated with receiving inboundfreight.To execute those functions, this person assigns work, trains employees and ensures adherence to quality control processes. In support of that, this person has the authority for hiring, termination, discipline and performance decisions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervise a crew of 10-20 distribution employees.

  • Responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned operations, measured by safety, quality, delivery, inventory and operating variance

  • Create alignment on assigned process improvement across all shifts and departments related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals

  • Available to work off shifts when necessary

  • Works with plant management and functional managers on developing policy deployment action plans and helps funnel Lean activities in support of strategic goals.

  • Initiate, implement, support, and sustain continuous improvement initiatives across processes and or departments.

  • Manage the team's performance through evaluations, development, training, and promotions

  • Interview and select new talent

  • Hold team accountable through coaching and discipline. Motivate and reinforce good behavior through timely recognition.

  • Communicate and administer company and department policies, work practices and procedures in an effective manner.

  • Identify, troubleshoot and remove barriers to success by using a data driven problem solving approach to make fact based decisions.

  • Operate power-industrial equipment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 5+ years of applicable job experience (ex. production, distribution, logistics)

  • Previous supervision experience

  • Experience with implementing and applying Lean System practices across multiple processes

  • Track record of insuring equipment is properly maintained and preventative maintenance is performed in a timely manner

  • Experience in decision making and exercising sound judgement to plan and accomplish goals

  • Leader within operations in regards to effective communication skills with staff and peers from up and downstream processes

  • Regularly solicits a wide range of perspectives and seeks candid input, both within and beyond the team.

  • Ability to pro-actively engage and motivate employees by driving change

  • Coach, mentor and effectively develop talent within the team

  • Pro-active engagement with a diverse group of employees

  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving process and methods

  • Proactive Identification of obstacles within department that may keep employees from being effective; takes immediate action to address issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations

  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully introduce, handle and manage change

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally; collaborating well cross-functionally

  • Ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite

  • Plans, aligns processes and hold the team accountable to daily tasks and departmental strategic goals

  • Appropriately receive constructive feedback from team members and leadership to continuously improve professionally.

  • Basic understanding of plant financials and budgets and how to use cost factors when making business decisions.

  • Basic understanding of capacity and/or labor planning.

  • Effective time management.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or moved up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds.
