Position Objective:

Demonstrate and execute knowledge in pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical theory, including three phase power A.C. and D.C power circuits, motor controls, and programmable logic controllers, working knowledge of various electrical and industrial codes through installation, maintaining and repairing of equipment and exhibiting independent judgment through the application of procedures using practical safety measures to specific work situations.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Repairs equipment or machinery in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and technical background equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.

  2. Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of packing and production machines.

  3. Use Computerized Maintenance Management System for work orders, booking labor, completing PMs and acquire parts for complete repairs.

  4. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  5. Install machines and equipment--including print reading/schematics; couplings and alignment; rigging and hoisting; start-up and debugging new equipment

  6. Apply hydraulics/pneumatics principles to Pumps, valves, cylinders and actuators, lubricants and coolants; trouble shoot, repair and rebuild; compressor repair, piping, tubing and hoses.

  7. Prior experience using a laptop pc for plc, servo, and VFD troubleshooting and basic programming skills for these devices

  8. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.

  9. Installs special functional or structural parts such as guards as a safety mechanism.

  10. Start, test, lubricate equipment or devices to test and maximize their performance

  11. May set up and operate the drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.

  12. Perform electrical work and maintenance

  13. Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.

  14. Safely perform duties in a responsible manner in accordance with company policy including maintaining general work area cleanliness.

Technical Requirements:

Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions along with basic math skills. Use commons tools, measuring instruments, read electronic and mechanical gauges, and machine setup devices. Must be able to pass the Sr. maintenance evaluation test.

Knowledge/Experience:

A combined total of 10 years' experience in the mechanical and electrical trades. Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for the mechanical or electrical trade may be substituted for military or work experience

Education Requirement:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2 Years in Vocational School preferred

Licenses Or Certifications:

Three years of experience in building maintenance to include at least two of the following building trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and/or heating, ventilation, & air conditioning; or an equivalent combination of education and certifications.

Special Skills:

Knowledge of use and care of tools used in and carpentry trades including voltage meters, drills, saws, drill press, and basic hand tools. Knowledge of mechanical operation and maintenance procedures for building equipment such as motors, pumps, appliances as needed to perform preventative maintenance and repair/replacement of equipment.
