Job Summary: The Senior Director, Head of PMO, is responsible for leading and transforming a technology focused Project Management Office comprised of portfolio leaders, projects managers and scrum leads across a portfolio of strategic initiatives and for ensuring that IT programs and projects are planned, managed, and governed in a consistent, open, and well-adapted manner. The position requires an experienced program management professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills, an ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented technology development environment. The chosen candidate will be a program management leader who embodies Equinix’s leadership principles of leading by example, communicating openly, enabling and inspiring others, excelling with partners, acting decisively, and collaborating effectively.
As the leader of the PMO, the candidate should have validated expertise in transformations, designing strategy and implementing end to end processes on strategic portfolio management and is focused on delivering exceptional results with strong business partnership and customer satisfaction. This individual should have extensive experience in leading complex, global initiatives involving organizational change and business value realization.

Responsibilities
Technology Project Planning and Execution
Leads the PMO to ensure IT programs and projects are planned, managed, governed and executed in a consistent, transparent, and disciplined manner to meet organizational goals and requirements
Transforms and leads a strategic process for the input and prioritization of business led technology initiatives; works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs
Directs IT’s Agile Transformation
Maintains and adjusts as needed the IT PMO strategy and lead the design and implementation of common project management methodology, inclusive of standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
Leads the execution of IT PMO governance and reporting framework to provide a holistic view of all departmental project activity
Leads the definition, documentation and publishing of metrics around portfolio health
Promotes and practices a change mindset to invigorate transformative initiatives and ensure successful implementation across teams
Is the highest-level escalation point within the team for highly complex issues
Stakeholder Management and Communication
Strong executive presence with ability to manage change in ambiguous and conflicting environments.
Builds relationships with company executives and VPs
Communicates major project/program direction or strategic changes
Responsible for providing objective and comprehensive input to senior leadership and executive decision makers
Solicits stakeholder input to define comprehensive improvement plans that are simple, consistent and drive standardization and predictability
Creates and drives broad partner communications with respect to portfolio status and budget utilization
People Management
Models the Equinix Culture and Values
Provides leadership and direction to the team, through senior managers and directors
Is accountable for the performance and results of direct reports and maybe a larger or multiple teams, perhaps global
Responsible for succession planning recommendations and contributing to and driving the people development strategy
Responsible for performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations
Responsible for the annual employee assessment and rewards process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports and reviewing and approving manager recommendations
Responsible for talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans
Qualifications
20+ years experience preferred
Diploma to a Bachelor's Degree preferred
