Overview

Job Description Summary:

This position mainly supports electrical product development by executing hardware and software testing of electronic modules, document test requirements, procedures and results. This person will lead Warranty analysis of field returned units and provides complete root cause analysis report, Works with local dealers in procuring vehicles to collect application data, test fit harnesses and conduct field testing of curt products. Electrical Test Engineer will report directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Test Engineer will consist of, but are not limited to the following:

    Based on product requirements document, develop DVP, execute tests on DUTs and generate detailed test reports.
  • Coordinate with external test lab for environmental and EMC testing of the product.

  • Support hardware and software engineers in creating DFMEA.

  • Build prototype samples of harness and PCBAs.

  • Perform complete root cause analysis on warranty return parts following fishbone/5 why methodologies and provide detailed report

  • Develop Electronics/electrical designs using computer assisted design software

  • Perform basic modeling of algorithms in Matlab and Simulink.

  • Collect and maintain vehicle specific product application data for development and prototype testing.

  • Perform vehicle fit checks of harness and electronic products at dealer lots or bring vehicles to Curt.

  • Develop and maintain functional test setups in LabVIEW for lab and production environment.

  • Maintain and operate environmental test chambers in the electrical lab.

  • Maintain calibration of electrical instruments andequipmentin the electrical lab.

Requirements:



  • Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of working in electrical test lab


  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field


  • Computer Skills: Microsoft PowerPoint, LabVIEW, Eagle (or other PCB design software),


  • Organization Skills: Ability to maintain clean and organized work space; ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects


  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work and handle multiple job assignments; ability to work with and communicate with other departments including Tooling, QA, Engineering and Manufacturing


  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate within a team setting; ability to maintain a professional & pleasant demeanor


  • Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: Ability to analyze information to solve complex problems; ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy; ability to sit/stand for long periods daily; position requires some lifting when doing mock installations on vehicles


  • Physical Environment: Normal office work setting with limited work in the plant during mock installations


  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Preferred Requirements:



  • Education: Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or related field


  • Electrical Skills: CAD, Design Harnesses, DFMEA


  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suites, Eagle (or other PCB design software), ANSI C or C++, JIRA, Github
