Overview

The Development Engineer will support market expansion through release of similar current product configurations as well as the development of new product types and platforms. In addition, this role will be involved in the design and development of next generation production equipment related to product needs. The engineer will interface with research, quality, finance, marketing, and manufacturing through PLM processes.

Responsibilities


  • Release derivative design products to manufacturing through SAP-MRP system by deadline dates

  • Research alternative manufacturing methods and design options to reduce cost or improve performance

  • Create product related detail specification and documentation

  • Help solve manufacturing issues related to product design

  • Communicate with vendors regarding new materials and assemblies

  • Conduct testing to verify product performance using physical prototypes, design analysis using CFD and FEA, and interface with R&D test lab



Qualifications


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience is required; internship and/or co-op experience will be considered

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings, customer specifications, material specifications and technical procedures

  • This position requires the ability to create and perform mathematical functions as they relate to mechanical product engineering

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel related to creating charts, engineering calculators, analysis, and design tables embedded in SolidWorks

  • Proficiency using SolidWorks, including sheet metal design features
