Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Senior Benefits Administrator that will sit in our Farmington Hills Headquarters with the ability to have a hybrid schedule onsite. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set. 

Summary Statement

Administer life insurance claims, service recognition program, employee wellness reimbursement and leave of absence programs including family medical, military, short-term income protection, long-term disability, workers compensation and unpaid leaves.   Work with management and employees on ADA issues, including reasonable accommodation determinations.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Administer leave of absence programs by preparing leave packets, analyzing claims to determine eligibility, troubleshooting disability and absence issues, verifying return to work status, and making final determination of leaves.

  • Maintain leave tracking in Workday and file supporting documentation in the employee benefit files.

  • Apply concepts and rules as mandated by appropriate state and federal guidelines for FMLA, USERRA and ADA in coordination with company policies.

  • Recognize employee relations and ADA concerns as they arise within the scope of leave administration and coordinate with the HR consultants and legal as necessary.

  • Administer ancillary benefit programs including worker’s compensation claims & incident reporting, life insurance claims, service recognition program, evidence of insurability processing and employee wellness reimbursement.

  • Reconcile benefit invoices against eligibility reports and present to management for payment.

  • Run reports on various benefit and absence tracking and present to management.

  • Maintain corporate personnel and benefit files in compliance with records retention policy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years demonstrated successful experience with employee benefits administration including FMLA, USERRA and ADA preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in an understanding and empathetic manner.

  • Experience with Workday or similar Human Capital Management system.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department and across the organization.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to perform accurate work under the pressures of tight schedules.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
