WHAT TO EXPECT

  • This position will report to the VP, Product Development.

  • You will beresponsible for testing to support applications design, product development, commercialization, and customer validation of power transmission products and systems.

  • In this role you will analyze and reporton test results and conclusions to support product development, applications engineering, commercialization, sales, and customers with guidance

  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because you willassist with the development of test equipment and new test techniques.

  • You will assistwith initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects to improve quality and efficiency of testing processes procedures and equipment.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):



  • Product / System DVP&R Execution-Responsible for creation, execution, analysis and reporting of development and validation test plans which provide repeatable, accurate, relevant, and timely test data and information. Assist with the development of test techniques, data acquisition, analyze results, write test reports complete with conclusions and recommendation to affected stakeholders and participate in design reviews.


  • Test equipment development-Responsible for new test equipment designs, methods, procedures, and modification of equipment and instrumentation with guidance as needed. Work with outside venders and internal engineering groups.


  • Lab resource management-Responsible for the efficient usage of test resources, which could also includemanaging of lab personnel or contract test engineers.


  • Continuous improvement-Proactively Initiates and implementscontinuous improvement projects toreduce costs, decrease test time and increase lab and development cycle time with guidance as needed.


  • Corrective Action-Helps to identify and communicate testing non-conformances and recommend and implement corrective actions.


  • APQP-Advanced Product Quality Planning and Advanced Development- Participates in project team activities across multiple Gates positions and facilities to meet customer requirements and timing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise of lab techs. Will receive guidance and work direction from senior professionals.









ABOUT YOU


  • Fours year engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials)

  • 8-10 years' experience in test lab environment, test engineering, and metals testing knowledge

  • Technical supervision experience is desirable

  • Equipment design experience and equipment specifications

  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, measuring systems, and data collection

  • Mechanical aptitude, solid understanding of dynamics, power transmission components and applications (metals, polymers, plastics, and composites)

  • Experience with DOE, failure mode testing and the development process

  • Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Microsoft Project

  • Solid interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills

  • Solid planning, organization, and data management skills

  • Familiarity with CAD design tools (SolidWorks) with a proficiency at reading and understanding basic mechanical drawings

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

The work environment will vary from a typical office setting to extreme temperature environments when attendance is required at customer proving grounds in hot and cold weather sites.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high noise levels, hearing protection may be required.
