A Day in the Life

The Marketing Specialist supports the Medtronic Core Clinical Solutions (MC2) general management staff in the execution of the marketing strategy for the organization. This position works under general supervision, working closely with Sr. Leadership and multiple stakeholders across Medtronic. The role will lead a diverse range of projects in support of effective and impactful marketing and communications for the MC2 shared service.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Lead the development and execution of MC2 marketing and communication strategy, identifies unmet customer requirements and new business opportunities, and provides vision and focus to move MC2 solutions from idea to marketplace.
  • Interacts directly with MC2 stakeholders to identify new marketing and communication opportunities, works across the matrix to gather the necessary information for content creation and adapts the messaging for the intended audience.
  • Facilitates and coordinates marketing and communication activities with geographic areas to increase teamwork and build partnerships.
  • Leads and coordinates shared services product planning, market development and market research activities.
  • Supports MC2 strategy and governance activities to ensure strong departmental, operational and functional health, including planning and preparation of communications.
  • Supports the effectiveness of senior leadership interactions in articulating the MC2 value to our partners by creating content for impactful presentations and written communications intended for different audiences.
  • Works individually or with a team in recommending action, scheduling, and planning projects, estimating cost and managing projects to completion.
  • Responsibilities may also include website development, tracking of marketing campaigns to evaluate results and provide recommendations, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade and inspire internal audiences.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of marketing communications experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of marketing communications experience.

Nice to Have


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry (e.g., medical device, pharma, hospital, biotech)
  • Advanced knowledge and skill set in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe or other creative software.
  • Experience preparing impactful communications and presentations for Sr. Leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with digital media.
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing; proven storyteller capable of creating compelling narratives.
  • Ability to adjust messages and content for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Highly proactive, able to work independently, and motivated to perform at a high-level with little supervision.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across a global matrix organization.
