POSITION SUMMARY:

The Buyer/Planner will perform and manage the procurement of both direct and indirect material for the support of a service department schedule via a MPS/MRP system.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and manage the procurement of both direct and indirect material for the support of a service schedule via a MPS/MRP system.
  • Adheres to corporate and SOX policies and guidelines.
  • Procure and/or schedule an inbound supply chain to align with a service schedule while supporting department inventory objectives/targets.
  • Utilize judgment in coordinating supplier deliveries to minimize freight costs while sustaining high inventory turnover.
  • Communicates with suppliers to ensure a gapless supply chain and will take the initiative to elevate issues within the supply base.
  • Sources material and shop supplies to address changing conditions and service department needs.
  • Supports in managing the department spend vs. budgets for direct and indirect material (i.e. shop supplies, equipment rent, managing inventory levels, etc.)
  • Governs the complete procurement process from P/O submission to P/O receipt. Individual will ensure that purchasing documents (i.e. purchase orders), are processed completely and accurately and submitted on-time to suppliers; responsible for maintaining correct costs and integrity of P/O documents.
  • Responsible for communicating non-conformances to suppliers and negotiating credits.
  • Monitor and report supplier on-time delivery; aggressively communicates and manages through any issues that could impact the service department schedule and elevating concerns as necessary.
  • Persistently identifies, communicates, and responds to opportunities for cost reduction / avoidance.
  • Individual will initiate cycle counts requirements and be responsible for updating inventory records and reconciliation.
  • Will utilize discretion in making necessary adjustments to safety stocks as deemed necessary to facilitate product availability while maintaining the lowest possible inventory.
  • Will make appropriate adjustments to ensures that item master integrity remains (ile., lead-time, B/P codes, MOQ, order multiples etc.).
  • Identify situations that require engineering change requests and initiate accordingly (i.e. BOM adjustments, item definition changes, etc.).
  • Monitor parts customer's demands on stock orders for inventory level improvements.
  • EXPERTISE REQUIRED:


    • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
    • Understanding of Supply Chain configuration and principles.
    • Knowledge of MPS/MRP systems. Experience with AS/400 and discrete MRP planning a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel.
    • Exceptional customer focus with excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of eight hours per day is required. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods through out the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or Lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion.

    The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
