Summary:

As a Solar EPC Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the EPC engineering team oversight in the design of utility-scale solar and BESS projects. You will apply your experience managing a discipline diverse team of engineers, designers, permit expeditors and design project managers in the on-time, on budget, and high-quality preparation of concept and detailed construction documents utilizing a design-build methodology. Projects will include cutting-edge distributed and utility-scale solar and BESS projects across California.

As part of a multi-disciplined engineering, procurement, and construction team, you and your team will be working closely with our construction mangers in the overall project schedules, value engineering reviews and construction administration support to ensure overall successful project delivery for our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:including, but not limited to, the following:


  • Overall management and responsibility of the EPC engineering multi-discipline design team.

  • Oversee the project managers, engineers and designers in all facets of preparation of conceptual and detailed electrical, civil, structural and mechanical, site plans, one-line diagrams, construction details, calculations, project specifications and similar.

  • Senior representation to clients and vendors regarding engineering-related matters.

  • Establish processes and procedures for quality control and status reporting of all engineering-related deliverables.

  • Participate in business development, value engineering and contracting process-related activities.

  • Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations.

  • Obtain and comply with permit research, entitlement processing and permit approvals.

  • Support and assist construction managers with addendums, RFIs, city plan check corrections, and change orders.

  • Evaluate and implement opportunities for process, design, and team improvement in the delivery of the projects.

  • Organize and maintain project files/information.

  • Demonstrate expertise in industry best practices.

  • Demonstrate expertise in applicable design and code requirements.

  • Develop and mentor staff for career advancement.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Qualification Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering required, P.E. a plus

  • 10+ years of experience with design for utility-scale solar energy projects

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a managing engineering team

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team

  • Strong organization and communication skills

  • Demonstrate a practical and functional knowledge of national and municipal codes.

  • Software: MS Office required; AutoCAD and other design software.

Physical Demands:


  • Travel up to 20%

  • Ability to lift to 10 lbs.

  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
