Summary/Objective: 
Rogers Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer accountable for development of more complex products and processes, for establishing sound technical bases for these developments, and for effective interaction with manufacturing, sales/marketing and engineering personnel in order to commercialize these developments. 
 
Essential Functions: 


  1. Design, conduct experiments, and interpret results. 

  2. Report on projects in both written and verbal formats. 

  3. Perform technical trouble shooting of new products and processes. 

  4. Provide support to improve existing products and processes. 

  5. Provide support in terms of analytical equipment maintenance, methods development, material analysis and documentation of new process or products. 


  6. Manage capital projects for purchase and installation of new process or support equipment. Train employees in new processes.

Required Education and Experience: 


  • PhD, ChE, ME, or Material Science, or Master’s degree in an engineering, science, or technical field with 4 or more years of experience with a track record of accomplishment in product development and project management

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills 

Required Skills and Abilities: 


  • Polymer materials science & engineering including: polymer structure-property relationships, materials selection, polymer processing, polymer characterization & testing, statistical design of experiments,

  • Effective data analysis and problem-solving skills


Preferred Education and Experience: 


  • Degrees in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred.

  • Hands-on experience in polymer processing

  • Experience in developing Intellectual Property

  • 3-5 years of Materials Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, or in support of a manufacturing operation 

  • Project management experience

  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques, designed experiments, etc.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:


  • Key Subject Matter expertise: Polymer Characterization: Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Thermo Mechanical Analysis (TMA). Rheological Analysis (RDA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). Mechanical properties and testing of viscoelastic materials

  • Project leadership, lead by influence, effective communication of complex technical topics to cross-functional audiences
