TEMP Manager Product Development at Movado Group Inc.

Job Summary:

This temporary PD Manager position is to cover maternity leave planned from July through January. The PD Manager manages all product development projects from concept to product launch. The PD Manager will communicate and coordinate with cross-functional counterparts to facilitate timely product introductions.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Day-to-day management of the PD calendar, meetings and tasks


    • Build calendar in Excel

    • Utilize strong planning skills to ensure that there is no overlap or conflict between pillar brands



  • Research trends and materials for future markets

    • Pull related materials for review at the beginning of each market



  • Monitor project status for brand to identify and mitigate risks

    • Answer communication daily for all markets/seasons



  • Continuously partner with Design, Brand and Supply Chain counterparts to ensure continuity of message and intent

    • Ensure Spec Packs are correct and consistent from a project/data viewpoint



  • Monitor milestone timelines to ensure adherence to schedule

    • Work to solve open issues and identify impact of milestone changes on total timeline, escalating to Director as needed.



  • Coordination of PD milestone approvals

    • Lead the structure and flow of key milestone related meetings (costing, prototype, etc...)

      • Speak to all feedback

      • Attend licensor meetings

      • For external meetings, ensure that all physical and data requirements are present at all meetings (i.e.: samples, specs, components, pro forma paperwork)



    • Review costing/gross margin for presentation to the brand

    • Balance project priorities of Aesthetics, Cost and Timeline

      • Involve appropriate management when conflict arises





  • Prototype Management

    • Review all incoming prototypes.

    • Check prototypes against spec packs



  • Maintain accurate project plan and status documentation

    • Create/Consolidate meeting notes and provide clear direction in PLM tool to global team though-out the development process

    • Ensure adherence to departmental standard



  • Ensure documentation of Brand specific quality and aesthetic standards for reference use

  • Component (i.e.: leather) management

    • Share document test results and obtain approvals

    • Coordinate timing of samples



  • Ensure all PD documents are accurate and up to date (i.e.: matrices, PLM data, etc...)

  • Plays a key role in building Hindsights

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of service related experience in a similar position

  • College degree Required

  • Up to date with market trends

  • Knowledge of end-to-end product development process

  • Knowledge of technical watch/jewelry construction

  • Knowledge of manufacturers and processes

  • Knowledge of brands / product lines

  • Strong Project Management skills required

  • Self-starter

  • Flexible with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment

  • Organized, detail-oriented and thorough
