Job Description:

Success Advisor II invests in the success of their caseload. The Success Advisor II mentors and advises students in mapping out their educational career and meeting their educational goals through intentional and intrusive monitoring of their caseload's success. The Success Advisor II works with students in an effort to help students select, outline, and achieve educational and developmental goals and cultivates a sense of community within the caseload.

DUTIES


  1. Advises new, transfer, and continuing students on academic matters such as course selection and degree declaration

  2. Advises students on university policy and procedures, program requirements, and related academic matters

  3. Assists with the development and implementation of advising workshops

  4. Fosters persistence and completion through intrusive and proactive monitoring of student progress within the caseload

  5. Serves as a student advocate for problem resolution in a timely manner and closely monitors student progress to proactively identify and advise on such matters

  6. Discusses linkage between academic preparation, support services, and the working environment

  7. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to monitor student success using processes such as Early Alert, Mid-term Grades, academic standing, and satisfactory academic progress (SAP)

  8. Tracks and celebrates academic accomplishments of caseload

  9. Runs regular communication campaigns using EAB and other media

  10. Reviews and monitors degree progress May process and verify graduation applications

  11. May assist with First Time in College (FTIC) and transfer orientation

  12. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and make presentations at special events

  13. May assist students within their caseload with financial aid information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:


  1. Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position

  2. Knowledge of all courses, co-requisites, and pre-requisites offered at the University

  3. Knowledge of TSI policies

Skills:


  1. Candidates must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal

Abilities:


  1. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community

  2. Ability to build strong, long-term rapport with a caseload

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Primary Work Location: Works in an office environment

Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. The work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks
