PURPOSE: The Product Planning Manager reports to the Director, Global Product Planning Commercial Vehicle and is responsible for developing product plans, business cases, pricing, marketing, and maintaining the product line profitability for a Global business. The individual will also be the product expert regarding commercial vehicle industry trends, requirements and legislation. In addition, the individual will lead the engineering, sales, purchasing and program management priorities and market requirements. The successful incumbent drives product strategy and initiatives for the global electrified CV end-market. S/he is responsible for the product planning and overall ownership of the product platform health throughout the lifecycle, including: understanding market trends and impacts, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, service and marketing to develop long-term product roadmaps supporting profitable electric vehicle end-market growth.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Defines, establishes and owns the long-term product development roadmaps and strategies for the CV Electric Vehicle end-market portfolio. Collaborates closely with product/ technology teams, customers, peers, industry events, and suppliers to translate corporate strategy into product portfolio strategy and to identify and lead roadmap gaps and needs.

  • Define electrification product-lines to maximize sales and profit in-line with Business Unit objectives.

  • Define product strategies and requirements (features, cost and capabilities), including timing, forecast volumes, target markets, and key customers.

  • Direct the acquisition and analysis of product and market data and deriving conclusions

  • Evaluate and recommend strategic opportunities to grow assigned business by increasing sales, profit and/or through strategic partnerships or JV's

  • Develop understanding of market drivers affecting our business including competition.

  • Interface with Purchasing and Corporate Legal Department to establish and negotiate supply and/or development contracts for key products and technologies

  • Prepare management reports and information for Dana Leadership

  • Ability to work with all levels of management and organization functions

  • Participate on project teams

  • Be key Dana representative to interface with OE Product Planning members.

  • Present product information to customers (OE and Fleet) and at industry events.

  • Undertake special projects & other duties as required

  • Access & use of several Dana data bases to extract data for decision support

  • Define and present requirements for sales and technical literature, product displays, advertising and press conference content.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Product Management, Program Management, Engineering or Purchasing.

  • Knowledge of the Commercial Vehicle industry, markets, OEM processes, competitive products, and industry issues.

  • Must have strong commercial vehicle or electrified systems product knowledge.

  • Strong technical background and Engineering or business degree.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical skills, communication skills, organizational skills and proven aptitude for numbers

  • Strong strategic vision and financial acumen

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to work extra hours when necessary

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English

  • Travel required. Both domestic and international.
