Bank Systems Engineer 2 Job Summary

The Bank Systems Engineer 2, working under minimal supervision, serves as a hands-on technical resource responsible for the acquisition, implementation, support and administration of the assets managed by Operations & Infrastructure teams. Physical assets include rack-mount and blade servers, storage switches and storage arrays. Software assets include a VMware private cloud, Linux & Windows operating systems and various business and management applications deployed to physical & virtual servers and public cloud. Designs and implements solutions, orchestrates changes, resolves incidents, plans lifecycle events and completes service requests for all systems and services provided by the Team and required for successful completion of Enterprise Projects.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1.Working under minimal supervision, serves as a hands-on technical resource responsible for the daily operations support, maintenance and administration of the resources managed by Operations & Infrastructure teams which includes diverse server, storage, and software platforms. Designs, installs, configures and performs systems integration testing of server operating systems, security, related utilities, and hardware.

2.Designs, installs, configures, administrates and supports rack mount and blade servers, enterprise storage arrays, VMWare private cloud and Windows / Linux operating systems.

3.Designs, installs, configures, administrates and supports enterprise business and management applications running on Windows & Linux deployed to physical or virtual servers in the private or public cloud. Software applications include email, collaboration, web servers, Java application servers, automation systems, monitoring systems, security systems, middleware platforms, version control systems, software quality systems and developer tools.

4.Researches, evaluates and recommends to management hardware and software solutions to meet business, project and operational needs with consideration for financial impacts to the organization.

5.Provides data backup, server backup and recovery services including those required for business continuity and disaster recovery operations.

6.Provides 2nd and 3rd level technology support (typically, moderate to high complexity issues), by way of Customer Service Tickets and meets the indicated SLA.

7.Implements system and data security, including controls and logging to comply with the requirements specified in the Westfield Bank Information Security Policies.

8.Manages system currency as set forth in Team currency plans and roadmaps including multi-year hardware lifecycles, software upgrades and patching.

9.Proactively monitors system capacity and performance to reduce incidents and meet availability SLAs.

10.May be required to coach and mentor teammates and others, as well as lead other Engineers in technology implementations.

11.Contributes to the strategic planning, roadmap and budget process.

12.Works on multiple projects as needed. Role may be a team member, leader, or subject matter expert (SME).

13.Helps develop, revise, and document appropriate standards, policies, and procedures relating to the management, security, maintenance, recovery and utilization of the services provided by Bank IT and evaluates and recommends changes to improve service levels.

14.Promotes adherence to standardized Bank IT processes, strategic guiding principles, and architectural standards.

15.Actively shares knowledge with other Bank IT members and improves the processes and tools used by Bank IT.

16.Provides after hours / weekend support as needed.

17.Collaborates within and across Business, Operations and Development teams to minimize barriers, increase efficiency and accomplish goals.

18.Is available for required rotational on-call 24x7 support.

19.Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with the Bank's internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for this position.

20.Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.

21.Travels occasionally to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1.4+ years of experience in the Information Technology field managing Servers, Storage, Private or Public clouds, Windows or Linux Operating Systems.

2.Experience in managing distributed computer applications at enterprise scale with defined Service Levels for Quality, Performance and Availability.

3.Intermediate knowledge and experience selecting or designing, implementing and managing (minimum 4 of the following sets, advanced knowledge in 2):

* Physical rack-mounted or blade server systems

* Network Attached, iSCSI or Fiber Channel Storage Networks and Enterprise Storage Arrays

* VMWare or other Private Cloud Infrastructure deployment and management

* Public cloud management such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or IBM Cloud

* Windows Server, Windows Group Policy, Active Directory, PowerShell

* Linux Server, LDAP, Bash scripting, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes

* Web servers and Java application servers such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic

* Enterprise backup and data replication technologies supporting business continuity and disaster recovery

4.Experience developing moderately complex automations using scripting, configuration management, workflow or orchestration technologies.

5.Experience with Data Communications concepts and Protocols including IP addressing, VPN, Load Balancing, High Availability Server Clusters, Firewalls, SSL / TLS Certificates and Public Key Infrastructure.

6.Experience in systems development, source control, DevOps principles, configuration management and database concepts.

7.Experience leading initiatives and projects of moderate technical complexity.

8.Experience in creating, maintaining and testing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.

9.Experience in creating and documenting standards and procedures for deploying, implementing and managing new technologies.

10.Experience in exercising critical thinking to make decisions at a fast pace, provide constructive feedback and deal with conflict.

11.Experience analyzing problems, troubleshooting incidents and developing strategies for resolution based on log analysis, event correlation and previous work experience.

12.Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills resulting in effective interaction with all levels of employees, consultants, managers and vendors.

13.Experience in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote).

14.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, other related field or equivalent work experience.

15.Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

*Ability to respond to emergency service calls at any time outside of normally assigned work hours.

*Ability to provide rotational on-call support for off shift, weekend and holidays.

*Ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to install and relocate computer equipment, cabling, and peripherals.

*Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. at any one time.

*Ability to travel as required.
