Located in Rochester Hills, MI office, you will be develop and run computer simulations in the areas of thermal dynamics and heat transfer, fluid dynamics and general mechanics, to optimize the design of impellers, volutes, heat transfer fins and castings.

  • You'll complete competent, timely analyses to assess performance of systems and components.

  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will perform 1D and 3D Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and heat transfer analysis to ensure product design meets flow requirement and pump efficiency targets.

  • You will work in a fast-paced environment providing timely, high quality reporting.

  • This position will report to the Director of Global Product Line Management - Water Pumps.


Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Meet the requirements of all internal procedures and work instructions while executing the primary tasks of analysis.

  • Develop and update analysis specifications and work instructions.

  • Work with systems engineering to apply loading and constraints to analysis in order to meet realistic conditions for Gates specialized mechanical assemblies.

  • Work with advanced development and test engineers to validate product and analysis.

  • Evaluate all new local product designs and global advanced products to ensure proper flow and heat transfer.

  • Guide global product engineers with design direction to optimize design to minimize material cost and weight and maximize flow and efficiency.









ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering at a minimum but graduate degree preferred, with 5 years of experience in flow and heat transfer analysis.

  • Understanding of advanced engine systems, hybrid and electric vehicles is an asset.

  • Incumbent must have a solid knowledge of CFD and heat transfer analysis. With hands on experience with at least one or more commercially available CFD and heat transfer software packages.

  • Very minimal travel is required
