Overview:

The primary function of this position is to ensure the integrity and safety of food products throughout the manufacturing process utilizing various standards and established testing methods, operating procedures, and adherence to protocols and policies. A critical goal of this function position is to support and assist the Quality Assurance Department and Management Team in all aspects to drive the continuous improvement of quality in the Bunge Oils Kearny Plant. Provide leadership and technical support with an emphasis on consumer requirements, continuous product quality improvement and productivity requirements.

Essential Functions:

*This position involves a combination of visually monitoring various aspects of plant operations, or physically obtaining samples and testing in the Q.A. Lab

*Monitoring quality parameters include batching, thermal process times and temperatures, capping, labeling, codes, and finished goods inspection

*Trained to conduct sanitation inspections on a pre-operational basis

*Perform all applicable analytical tests on raw ingredients, in-process and finished products

*Prepare testing solutions, equipment calibrations, general maintenance and upkeep of laboratory

*Assist in identifying and managing HOLD products and the rework process

*Continuously improve plant GMPs through daily inspection and regular audits of the plant

*Monitoring and validation of HACCP and all quality check points

*Assist management in implementation of procedures, protocols and policies, and monitoring for compliance of such

*Perform data entry on QA database and assist management in data trending

*Identify quality, procedure and policy deviations; effectively report such deviations and provide accurate information in a timely manner and as needed

*Provide quality improvement education to the other department and workforce through shift team meetings

*Provide leadership in our continuous improvement plans

*Provides technical assistance to production personnel as needed

*Maintain a safe work environment for all employees

*Other duties deemed necessary by Supervisor/Manager

Skill/Experience Requirements:

* Some Quality Assurance experience within food and beverage manufacturing environment preferred

*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Sound decision and teamwork skills are essential. Detail oriented a must!

*Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets

*Provide a safe work environment through auditing of working conditions

*Familiar with GMPs, SOPs, and FDA regulated environment

*Ability to follow written procedures and established test methods

*Effective oral and written communication skills

*Must have the ability to work with diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise and backgrounds

*General knowledge of production processes, food lab instrumentation, laboratory test methods

*Ability to follow oral and written instructions and have good organizational skills

*Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

*Ability to perform office and data entry work

*Ability to perform some physical lifting up to 50 lbs

*Must be willing and able to work shifts

*Must be able to work nights, week-ends, and rotating shifts based upon department/plant needs
