Atkore, a recent recipient of a Great Place to Work certification, is currently searching for a CAD Designer to be based out of our New Bedford, MA facility. Reporting to Product and Design Manager, the CAD Designer will be responsible for using drafting software (AutoCAD) to draw and design electrical wiring solutions for commercial and industrial applications from customer supplied drawings.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or a minimum of three (3) years of AutoCAD experience working with drawings, designs and schematics in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Follow written and/or verbal directions in converting supplied electrical building plans and provide the optimal design and layout for a wiring solution.


• Work with Sales and Design team on the preparation of quotations and drawings.


• Interact with our internal design, sales and production departments, to best meet our customer's needs.


• Work with manufacturing on component drawings, designs and schematics.


• Work in a customer focused team environment.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree required or minimum of three (3) years of AutoCAD experience working with drawings, designs and schematics in a manufacturing environment.


• Familiarity with electrical wiring strongly preferred.


• Drafting experience with electrical, plumbing or building trades is a plus.


• Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications.


• Ability to work both as a team member and as an individual contributor.


• Ability to focus in an open office environment.


• Must be self-motivated, resilient, articulate, persuasive, and comfortable with speaking to customers, result driven, persistent and action oriented.


• Excellent communication skills within all levels of the organizations

• Experience working with teams which support and drive company values and initiatives from an individual contributor level.
