The Hardware Design Engineer in this position will be responsible for the design and development of electronics for Genie products. This highly visible role will involve close collaboration with the rest of the new product development team to produce new garage door openers and accessories. The candidate must be able to design, analyze, and document control circuitry at the PCB level. The responsibilities for the position include (but are not limited to) designing UL compliant motor drives and DC/DC converters for high volume production of consumer products at competitive cost targets.
Role and Responsibilities
Component selection, circuit design at the PCB level, schematic capture, and design analysis
Guidance of PCB layout
Hands-on bring-up, debugging, and functional verification of prototypes
Development of verification plans and contribution to validation plans
Collaboration with printed circuit board layout, firmware development, mechanical engineering, compliance engineering, validation testing, and manufacturing
Qualifications
4+ years’ experience in a product development environment designing commercial products for mass production is required. Must have great electrical engineering and general engineering fundamentals as well as demonstrated problem solving ability
Circuit design skills at the PCB assembly level are required
Familiarity with PCB design, PCB assembly, and surface mount assembly processes is required
Strong understanding of electronic components is required
Experience with microcontroller-based embedded design is required, but this is not a firmware development position
Must have hands-on background in prototype bring-up and functional verification
Strong communication skills in spoken and written English
