Position Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate or
repair metallic and nonmetallic parts primarily for production by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Proficient in machine operation
• Uses measurement tools i.e. digital calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
• Able to run select machines in department
• Works under the general direction of the Molding Supervisor with a minimum of supervision.
• Maintains and repairs tooling for production floor, including all form dies and welding
electrodes.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine
dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup
requirements.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and
materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers and grinders.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow,
and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized
machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance
machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
• Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests
operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
• Reports defective material, any unusual condition or circumstance immediately to
supervisor.
• Maintains personal productive and quality standards as determined by company.
• Follows standard practices and procedures as outlined by company policy.
• Follows all safety regulations.
• Maintains area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Performs all other duties as directed or required.

Position Requirements:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 5 years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Very good understanding of machining practices and demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude
Manufacturing/machining training and/or certification or 3+ years manufacturing & machining
experience preferred
Good communication and interactive skills

Additional Characteristics:
Ability to lift over 5 pounds and up to 20 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Good manual dexterity
Good visual acuitY
