Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as an Office Manager who can multitask while in a fast paced environment. They take pride in their ability to oversee day to day needs of the office and creating standards and systems to streamline the management process.

Spec Engineering is a privately held, fast growing, and stable full-service process engineering firm and turnkey system integrator. We provide the latest technology in processing systems for the Food & Beverage, General Manufacturing, and Chemical industries.

Spec’s main office is located in Plainfield, IL, with a second office location in Chicago. In 2021, our main office will move to a brand new 75,000 s.f. facility in Naperville, IL, complete with a fitness center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create an office supplies tracking system and successfully implement it.

  • Purchase office supplies and equipment and maintain inventory levels.

  • Overseeing and negotiating service provider contracts for services including security, parking, cleaning, catering, and technology as needed.

  • Approve invoices as appropriate.

  • Evaluate service of vendors and quality of items purchased.

  • Primary liaison with the landlord and other service providers.

  • Supervising multi-disciplinary teams of staff including cleaning, maintenance, grounds, and security as needed.

  • Ensuring that basic facilities, such as water and heating, are well-maintained.

  • Ensuring that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.

  • Providing administrative support to Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, and Procurement departments as needed.

  • Greet visitors, answering a high-volume of incoming phone calls and directing phones calls as needed.

  • Responsible for coordinating company lunches, meetings, events, and similar functions.

  • Oversees general office operation.

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2-5 year of relevant experience.

  • Experience in an OEM environment is preferred.
