Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as a Control Panel Builder who is focused on assembling parts & machines in accordance with job specifications, assembly drawings and schematics, department standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assemble parts and machines in accordance with job specifications

  • Draft/read assembly drawings and schematics

  • Ensure all functionality and appearance expectation of projects are met

  • Assemble, build, and wire industrial control panels to UL and NEC standards

  • Identify components using electrical schematics and bills of material

  • Drill, tap, punch and cut/cutout holes in stainless steel and machine framing to mount panel and machine components

  • Route machine cabling and terminate connections in electric motors, transformers, junction boxes and control devices

  • Print labels and tag all wires, cables, devices, and equipment neatly and properly

  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems including taking voltage and amp readings, tracing wiring, evaluating relays, testing motors, evaluating health of wiring, checking breakers and fuses, evaluating sensors, and determining the health of valves

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, flow meters, and level sensors.

  • Perform additional job duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience:


  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical panel building or field technician
