Responsibilities: 


  • The IT Systems Support reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for all aspects of IT activities for the Office of the Chief of Protocol (S/CPR). Provide assistance to Support Services Specialists for hardware and software purchases.  Provide operational support for wireless and wired network administration, MS and Apple based workstations, printers, user technical support for laptops and desktops, radios, mobile devices and cell phones. 


  • The incumbent will interface with S/CPR users to resolve customer issues and coordinate with MRA on software installations and initiate MRA accounts, manage S/CPR virtual servers and provide IT support to one of the office’s automation projects, and coordinate with TWD on WiFi needs at headquarters. Coordinate with POCs for DIN support. 




  • The incumbent will provide overall computer operational hardware and software support for multiple forms of desktops. Provide support on variety of software applications approved by IRM, mobile devices (i.e. iPhones, iPads, hotspots, and iron keys), provision radios and cellphones; maintain IT inventory and in general provide IT technical assistance. Keep office laptops up to date by maintaining encryption and a master image, restoring images as needed.




  • The incumbent will provide IT support for S/CPR coordinated events, conferences, summits and meetings by surveying conference facilities, interfacing with external and internal service providers, determining level of effort for the various technical disciplines necessary for an event and ensuring requirements are met. Assist with budget and planning support in relation to IT activities. 




  • The incumbent will provide on-site IT Technical Support and Systems Administration at event locations domestic and interface with Embassy resources for overseas events. Prep, pack and ship as well as set-up equipment for event control rooms, set-up hard-wired and WiFi networks, work with vendors for equipment rentals.



Minimum Qualifications: 


  • University/College coursework in Computer Science or other related fields.

  • Ten (10) years or more work experience providing IT Technical Support and Systems Administration

  • Possesses Top Secret Clearance level

  • Experience with troubleshooting, repairing and testing computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment. 

  • Experience installing Install and configuring computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment and associated cabling. 

  • Experience maintaining government and/or vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexer, fiber optic/Ethernet cables & telephone systems 

  • Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance.

  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.  

  • English language (written and spoken) communications skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.  

  • Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to travel and carry 50 lbs.
