Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Roll out a world class Sustainability Program.

  • Lead project-related activities of project team members.

  • Collect and analyze complex data sets; prepare metrics and reports on targets and goals

  • Write process documents and policies that will be published internally and externally

  • Lead change management processes for new business models and concepts

  • Engage and educate employees on sustainability topics, best practices and value realization

  • Communicate expectations to suppliers and other stakeholders on targets, goals and policies

  • Prepare project summary reports, develop project plan, identify risk and communicate mitigation activities.

  • Prepare and deliver project status presentations to Management regularly. Relay feedback outcomes to project teams.

  • Improve EHS workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture, identifying and mitigating EHS risk and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards.

  • Guide and direct departments toward compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance polices.

  • Responsible for all Dexcom San Diego EHS operations at Dexcom's domestic Manufacturing and R&D facilities and support for EHS programs globally as needed.

  • Responsible for oversight and management of third-party environmental and occupational health and safety consultants and related program activities.

  • Administration of data, training, recordkeeping and internal and external reporting related to EHS.

  • Responsible for writing and management of programs and data for demonstration of Dexcom's environmental management system (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety management System (OHSMS).

  • Implement and manage environmental permitting as applicable (air, water, waste permits).

  • Develop and implement comprehensive environmental and safety auditing program, provide reports, and recommend and implement corrective actions.

  • Researches, translates, and communicates governmental regulations in matters related to EHS.

  • Contributes to the development and preparation of all applicable operating plans and budgets; Responsible for managing expenses within a budget or part of a larger budget.

  • Review, investigate and implement action plans for all work-related injuries, illnesses, accidents and safety concerns

  • Develop and coordinate implementation of EHS emergency action plans

Management - Contributing through others to drive results


  • Will not manage others.

  • Or may manage a function or business line with indirect responsibility for people management


  • Responsible for acting as a role model of Dexcom's values and creating a positive work environment

  • Requires management skill, broad technical and functional expertise, business knowledge and, process and people leadership

  • Accountable for business, functional, operational processes and/or program management• Accountable for project and/or department budgets and the results of other people

Preferred Qualifications:


  • MBA or other Masters level degree in Sustainability or Environmental Studies, Science preferred

  • Medical device, biotech/pharmaceutical or electronics manufacturing support experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in EHS related discipline, engineering or physical sciences

  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats

  • Proficient use of MS Office suite

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to design and write effective EHS program documents

  • In depth knowledge of EHS regulations and regulatory requirements


  • EHS professional credential from accrediting organization (e.g. CIH, CSP, CHMM) or state professional engineer certification

  • Knowledge of ANSI, CSA, ISO, and ASME Standards

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability

  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree with 4+ years of industry experience.

  • 2+ years of previous Project Management.

Travel Required:

  • 0-25%

Functional Description: Management

We are looking for someone to implement and manage day to day the Corporate Sustainability Program and will work with the Environmental Social Responsibility Team. This position resides within the EHS Department.

You will focus on a variety of topics surrounding social and environmental responsibility in the supply chain and our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the project management and execution of sustainability programs by identifying opportunities, creating new processes and policies, and designing new business models that will have impact on people and our planet and contribute to our overall plans as a responsible and sustainable company. You will contribute to internal governance committees with opportunities to present to executives on a regular basis. You will work cross-functionally and drive positive outcomes with strong data analysis and project management, innovation, target setting, metrics and reporting. You will work closely with our supply chain partners and supplier managers, manufacturing, EHS and facilities leaders.

Also, you will apply corporate EHS standards, lead initiatives, define EHS standards and policies, and oversee EHS Operations for the Dexcom San Diego Manufacturing Site. This individual will be a part of a highly innovative and collaborative environment and will work with multiple stakeholders across the organization to drive EHS continuous improvements. The Sr Manager, EHS will serve as a subject matter expert on Environment, Health, and Safety, and design and implement guidelines for EHS to ensure best practices.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management

  • Demonstrated experience and data analysis and strong writing skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading a project in a cross-functional environment

  • Provides guidance to team members / supporting employees using established company policies.

  • Manages the coordination of department/functional activities with responsibility for results, methods and staffing.

  • In some instances, may be responsible for a functional area or contracted / outsourced employees or matrixed reports.

  • Will not manage others.
