Summary:

Dexcom Inc. is currently seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer. Dexcom, Inc., headquartered in San Diego, California, is focused on developing technology for the continuous monitoring of glucose in people with diabetes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement requirements


• Follow internal software development procedure that complies with medical regulations


• Develop automated unit tests


• Write and update design documentation

• Interface with software test to ensure high quality product


• Propose and implement enhancements to the apps to improve sustainability


• Provide technical leadership


• Other duties as assigned


• Provide technical day-to-day oversight to other team members

• Provide manager with input for other team members mid-year and annual performance evaluations.


• Participate in hiring activity.


• Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires.


• Coordinate offboarding activities for exiting employees.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven history of software development


• Ability to understand company intent for the application and align programming

• Proficiency with fundamental front end languages including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.


• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks including React and Material-UI.


• Proficiency with server-side languages including Node.js and C-based languages.


• Proficiency with data persistence and access including Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, TSQL, Redis cache, and flat file storage.


• Knowledge in automated unit and integration testing using various testing tools.


• Proficiency in containerization including knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.


• Understanding of CI/CD tooling and automated build pipelines in Spinnaker.


• Strong source code management using Git repos and GitFlow branch management.


• Must have strong communication skills to discuss tradeoffs between design options


• High degree of diligence in documentation, testing and coding

Functional Description: Technical Individual Contributors

Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.

Functional/Business Knowledge:

• Possesses a high level of theoretical knowledge. Ability to deliver technical ideas that have an impact on the objectives. Understands organizational and functional processes and policies aligned to the technical and business goals.

Scope:

• Demonstrates technical proficiency. Works on moderately complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interprets data and draws conclusions regarding results used in presented material.

Judgement:

• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.


• Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience or Master's degree and 0-2 years' equivalent experience.
