Product Management Director Human Resources and Management of Technology 

The Product Management Director is an independent self-directed member of the product management team; is responsible for the product planning and execution, in assigned domain areas, throughout the Product Lifecycle, including: 

 

·                Engaging with prospects, customers, and associations to understand market needs, 

·                defining the product vision and direction, 

·                gathering and prioritizing product requirements, 

·                working closely with our product development team, 

·                working with marketing and sales to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. 

 

You operate as a business owner within your domain, seeking to find the right investments that will best support revenue growth and profitability over the long term. The Product Management Director’s job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals. A balance of business and technical savvy is a key component of this role as well as a big-picture vision, and the ability to drive that vision to reality. The PMD should enjoy spending time in the market to understand industry challenges, identifying innovative solutions, participating in industry events and contributing to industry standards. This role requires cross-functional coordination and strong relationship management skills including the ability to work across learning and development teams, independent contractors, and subject matter experts, as well as business operations. 

 

The Product Management Director is expected to: 

 

·            Define the product strategy and roadmap 

·            Develop and implement appropriate market research 

·            Determine prioritized features and corresponding justification 

·            Work with external third parties, assess partnerships, and licensing opportunities 

·            Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products 

·            Be an expert with respect to the competition 

·            Act as a product segment leader within the company 

 

Unique to this assigned role: 

 

· Management Concepts already covers Human Resources and Human Capital courses. However, we are far from covering even all the popular sub-topics. While HR is a very stable market, there is good room to grow the portfolio and corresponding revenue. 

 

· Management of Technology is a nascent topic area for us. We have been serving the non-technical learner that wants/needs to know more about technology in order to do their existing job or to start a path towards upskilling/reskilling for a different role. We have started testing the waters, but just at the beginning of the journey. The following activities are needed: 

 

 

o    Market understanding/analysis 

o    Establish target portfolio and path over time to target 

o    Develop Marketing and Sales materials from the ground up 

 

Requirements: 

 

·            10+ years of experience in roles from which Product Management skills derive: Sales,

            marketing, product management, project management, business analyst 

·            Some technical background such that technology concepts are quickly understood 

·            Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

·            Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products 

·            Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) 

·            Excellent teamwork/collaboration skills 

·            Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority 

·            Desired: federal human resources experience 

·            Desired: prior experience in the education space (ideally adult education)
