NV5 is recruiting for a Safety and IH Specialist/Professional for work within a 50 mile radius of Richland, WA. This is a Potential Future Opportunity.

Responsibilities

The Safety/IH Specialist/Professional will have a passion for the Safety and Industrial Hygiene (IH) field to help our clients achieve success in the health and safety of their operations.

* Provide Safety and/or IH support for construction
* Provide support for the field implementation of Safety and/or IH management requirements and maintain a strong field presence in project activities.
* Provide support to the company in Safety and/or IH management requirements.
* Develop and implement effective and efficient methods for controlling and eliminating occupational health hazards.
* Provide input/interface into the job hazard analysis processes and performs exposure monitoring as required.
* Review and implement safety and health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations and orders from regulating entities (i.e., Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and DOE).

Potential responsibilities of this position are:
* Perform technical operational safety and health reviews and inspections to determine deficiencies that require corrective action, reports results, and recommends corrective actions.
* Review and interpret national, federal, and local safety standards, manuals, reports and other formal written communications and develops institutional and/or local requirements and guidance.
* Evaluate work activities, designs, develops, implements and recommends safety and health protective equipment and risk mitigation or abatement controls.
* Review plans, designs and specifications for operations and facilities to identify proper hazard controls.
* Provide recommended engineering controls to project personnel.
* Work independently to develop, maintain, implement and supervise safety programs and services.
* Assure customer implementation of work management by gaining an understanding of operations, assisting with the development and review of work documents and associated operating procedures to ensure hazards are appropriately identified and controlled, participating in pre-job walk-downs prior to commencement of work, and conducting periodic safety and health inspections to ensure compliance with applicable safety and health requirements.
* Be able to develop and provide on-The-Job training to peers in support of the industrial hygiene and safety qualification program.
* Write technical reports based on the interpretation of complex data, observations, and current regulations.

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:
Safety and IH Specialist Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in safety and health, or applied science relevant to Industrial Safety or Hygiene.
3 to 5 years' experience in construction safety/IH.
OSHA 30 Training Certificate

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in safety and health
Certification recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). This includes Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), or Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST).

Working Conditions
* The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
* The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
* The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
* The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
* The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
* The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

Physical Requirements
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Background Check / Drug Screening
Candidates who are proposed will be required to complete a background check and drug screen prior to being hired.

Education
Verification of education will be required prior to employment.

Medical Requirements
Candidates may be subject to baseline medical monitoring depending upon client requirements.
