Senior Quality Analyst at Ascensus

Job Description:


Section 1: Position Summary

Individuals in this role will demonstrate strong manual testing skills and provide support to Quality Analysts and Engineers, instilling in them a strong sense of quality ownership. The Senior Analyst will review scenarios and analyze testing progress. They will actively participate in all Agile ceremonies and be instrumental in creating a testing strategy for their projects.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • An ideal Senior Quality Analyst should be able to handle a challenging fast paced environment with a desire and passion to work at the forefront of technology, producing a quality product for their customers

  • A team player that actively participates, coordinates and contributes in all Agile ceremonies

  • Provides guidance in manual testing techniques, methodologies, testing tools and best practices

  • Shares expertise by engaging in relationships with team.

  • Provides guidance related to databases and SQL

  • Utilizes TFS to create scenarios, execute tests and log defects based on user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Ability to create metrics related to testing results and defects

  • Reviews and provides feedback to the team on testability of user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Executes functional, cross browser, exploratory, security, regression, edge-case and integration testing as required

  • Collaborates with Quality Analyst and Engineers on developing an effective Testing Strategy and shares with the scrum team

  • Shares knowledge of business processes and databases with Quality Analysts and Engineers and other team members

  • Participates in knowledge sharing with other Quality Analysts

  • Assists Quality Engineers with debugging automation scripts

  • Coordinates and assists in testing during Implementations to Production

  • Coordinates and supports Business Acceptance testing

  • Assists in providing estimates to PM and Stakeholders - Sr Analyst

  • Continuously demonstrates the pursuit of knowledge of systems, architecture, products and industry by attending classes/seminars, reading articles on technical websites and listening to technical podcasts.

  • Provides support for company initiatives such Disaster Recovery, Audits, etc.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Business-related field

  • 5+ years of business experience

  • 3+ years of QA experience

  • Experienced with Agile philosophy and frameworks

  • Manual scenario writing and testing experience

  • Experience with automation scripting and debugging

  • Knowledge of databases and SQL

  • Possess strong organizational skills and has the ability to maintain expected productivity levels

  • Possess problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clear, concise technical writing style

  • Excellent listening, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize and be responsible for the execution of project tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly

  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams

  • Understands own strengths and weaknesses, has professional standards with regard to attendance, personal accountability and integrity

  • Mentoring and training experience
