NV5 is recruiting for two IH Specialist/Industrial Hygiene Program Administrator positions for work within a 50 mile radius of Richland, WA and in Washington, D.C. This is a Potential Future Opportunity.

Responsibilities

The IH Specialist will have a passion for the Safety and Industrial Hygiene (IH) field to help our clients achieve success in the health and safety of their operations.

* Asbestos program development, including plan review, risk assessment and communication, training, and sampling
* Ergonomics program development including assessments and training
* Hazard communication program development and training
* Hearing conservation program development including training and onsite sampling
* Indoor Air Quality/Mold program development and support including onsite assessments and sampling, and training
* Ventilation program development including reviews, recommendations, measurements, and evaluations
* Decommissioning plan reviews
* Lead program development, especially as related to firing ranges. Includes evaluations, surveys, sampling, training, and compliance reviews
* Respiratory protection program development including evaluations, surveys, sampling, training, and fit testing
* Thermal stress program development for both heat and cold stress. Includes evaluations, surveys, sampling, training, and risk reduction.
* Job Hazard Analysis and Hazard assessment
* Write technical reports based on the interpretation of complex data, observations, and current regulations.

Qualifications

IH Specialist Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in safety and health, or applied science relevant to Industrial Safety or Hygiene.
  • At least 5 years' experience in Industrial Hygiene

  • Top Secret clearance required, or the ability to obtain such clearance prior to the start of work

  • Have or obtain the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certificate

  • Have or obtain Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) Asbestos Project Designer Certification and AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification

Desired Qualifications:

Certification recognized by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) as a Certified Industrial Hygienist.

Working Conditions:


* The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
* The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
* The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
* The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
* The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
* The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Background Check / Drug Screening:
Candidates who are proposed will be required to complete a background check and drug screen prior to being hired.

Education:
Verification of education will be required prior to employment.

Medical Requirements:
Candidates may be subject to baseline medical monitoring depending upon client requirements.
