The Senior Manager Underwriting (Risk & Underwriting Senior Advisor) will manage a small team of Financial Analysts in support of developing pricing strategies for portfolio of Commercial clients.  This role will be accountable for managing clients’ end to end specialty financials by serving as the strategic advisor through leveraging market competitive strategies and conducting complex analyses while also managing ESI financial rate relief and managing to company targets. This role plays a vital part in achieving our goal to help clients drive down the cost of care. 

The Essential Functions of the role include:

• Lead a small team of financial analysts in the development of pricing strategies and underwrite offers to win and retain clients while also maximizing profitability 


• Oversee analytical, quantitative, and financial cost modeling for clients with varying lines of business including Commercial and EGWP lines business.


• Work with Sales and Account Management to review, strategize and analyze renewal and new sales opportunities for a portfolio of clients


• Responsible for effectively communicating with Senior Leadership, SAM, Non-Specialty Leadership and other business partners in the delivery of ESI opportunities to grow and manage financial results, including the preparation of strategic internal and external directed presentations


• Ensure client contract compliance by reviewing and approving financial performance guarantees


• Work with product areas to assist in the development of program pricing for Commercial clients


• Provide management of key internal initiatives and projects


• Assist in the negotiation of client contracts and program upsells


• Participate in department and company projects


• Develop and improve existing best practices for client support and financial modeling

Qualifications

• BS in Economics, Statistics, Finance or other quantitative area; MBA a plus 


• 5-7 years of relevant financial/analytical experience - underwriting preferred


• PBM / Managed Care / Healthcare / Pharmaceutical experience preferred 


• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills 


• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, financial modeling skills a plus 


• Excellent PC skills 


• Strong written/verbal communication skills 


• Self-starter; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
