The Risk Management & Compliance department is based in Naples, Florida and includes a team of varied compliance, risk management, audit and legal professionals. Arthrex is actively searching for a Third Party Compliance Manager to join the Risk Management & Compliance team. The successful candidate will manage and further enhance the Company’s third party compliance program, including managing due diligence reviews of certain third parties engaged by the Company in connection with the sale and distribution of its products. Experience in third party risk management and working in the pharmaceutical/medical device/life sciences industry is preferred.

Main Objective:

The Third Party Compliance Manager will manage the Third Party Compliance Program, including due diligence reviews of certain third parties engaged by the organization in connection with the sale and distribution of its products, which is accomplished through the use of the organization’s due diligence platform and in collaboration with global stakeholders across the organization. This highly visible role will provide risk-based compliance guidance to external and internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The Third Party Compliance Manager reports to the Global Compliance Operations Sr. Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manages the development and administration of the third-party compliance program.

  • Coordinates and assists with the completion all relevant compliance controls for third parties, including processing requests for new third parties, gathering and reviewing information as part of the due diligence process, identifying potential red flags, coordinating annual compliance certifications and due diligence renewals.

  • Design and execute plans in coordination with Regional Compliance Officers, business stakeholders and Legal teams to mitigate red flags identified during the due diligence process, and document outcome of the due diligence process in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Engage with external vendors providing support to the due diligence process, as needed

  • Reviews and assesses risk related to third parties, and coordinates with Regional Compliance Officers, and Global Risk Management & Compliance auditing, monitoring and training functions to prioritize activities for high-risk third parties.

  • Coordinate reassessment of third parties on a periodic basis, based on risk analysis.

  • Implements and maintains strategies related to third party policies, codes/handbooks, standards and other third party compliance program elements. 

  • Provides timely, risk-based guidance and support to business stakeholders regarding third-party policy and procedure interpretation.

  • Assists the business in the development of termination plans and off-boarding of third parties, as necessary.

  • Supports on-going monitoring of third parties, based on risk analysis.

  • Supports the development and delivery of third party compliance training to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drafts reports and presentations for Global Risk Management & Compliance Leadership Team, the Global Risk & Compliance Committee, and for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships across all functions of the organization.

  • Supports administration of third-party risk management system.

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 5 years of experience in Legal, Compliance, Risk, or Internal Audit required; preferably within the healthcare/life sciences/biotech industry preferred

  • 5 years of experience supporting a third party risk or compliance function strongly preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Professional written, verbal, analytical, organizational, problem solving and presentational skills.

  • Detail oriented and have overall solid business and financial acumen.

  • Ability to understand and develop business process and controls.

  • Independent decision-making ability in the application of legal and compliance principles.

  • Comfortable working in situations with no clear answer.

  • Ability to prioritize projects and responsibilities.

  • Self-starter and willingness to contribute where there is a need within the team.

  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic and high-growth environment.

  • Knowledge of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and other laws, regulations, and industry guidance applicable to a global healthcare company.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Intermediate (or better) level of proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to understand strategic priorities and apply risk-based considerations to factual analysis.

Language and Communication Skills:

Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate an ability to interact well at all organization levels and collaborate with a team.
