Principal Network Engineer, Cloud

We are looking for a Principal Network Engineer Cloud who will be working in our Global Network Engineering team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing and implementing the core software needed develop and support Equinix interconnection product offerings, including SDN (router and switch) orchestration, virtual network functions management, device configuration management, traffic analysis, and interconnection.

• Implementing operational tooling and monitoring systems to provide insights into all parts of the network; building systems and software architectures to solve for long-term and emerging challenges

• Working as a team player with Equinix larger Network Engineering, Product Managers, Operations and Implementation organizations to develop new products.

What we expect from you:

• Experience working at a Cloud Service or SaaS provider is a plus

• Strong Linux systems and networking skills, along and proficiency with Python, Perl, Go

• Deep understanding of network automation and orchestration concepts at scale

• Experience building scalable billing and traffic analysis platforms using (e.g. IPFIX, sFlow, Netflow) network flow data

• Knowledge and experience working with tools such as Jinja2, NAPALM, Nornir, NetBox, Github, Prometheus, and Grafana

• Deep understanding of network concepts including L2/L3 protocols, data center networking, transit, peering, optical, and backbone networking / traffic engineering, traffic flow export and analysis

• Hands-on experience automating network bootstrapping (ZTP), backbone-level configuration, operational tooling, and code updates/change management

• Recent (past 2 years) architectural experience with current-generation routers and switches from Juniper, Nokia, Arista, or a similar vendor

Qualifications

• 15+ years experience


• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering or related field preferred

In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is $113,000 - $155,000 per year with 25% bonus target.
