Position Overview

Reporting to the President of Masterack, the Vice President of Operations will be part of the senior management team and will have responsibility for multi-site operations including the manufacturing facility in Social Circle, GA and the upfitting facilities in Kansas City, MO; Wentzville, MO and Decatur, GA.

The Vice President of Operations will provide leadership and implement lean manufacturing/continuous improvement strategies designed to help the organization achieve world-class manufacturing status. S/he will be responsible for all matters relating to production, process improvement, inventory control, fulfillment, safety, security, quality control, planning, scheduling, and management of manufacturing staff at multiple locations. The Vice President of Operations will lead, coach and mentor employees to new levels of skills, capabilities and performance. S/he will model a commitment to safety and quality throughout the facilities, and realize a significant impact to the Masterack. This leader will analyze operational business trends, implement metrics (KPI) to monitor progress, implement corrective action as required and provide adequate reporting to the business.

The team consists of 5 direct reports and a total employee population in operations of approximately 80, with additional contract / temporary staff.

Essential Functions:

• Establish a safety-driven performance-based business culture resulting in a highly motivated work team
• Lead and direct customer service levels through high-performance on-time delivery rates
• Drive a continuous improvement culture through the implementation of PPS (Poindexter Production System) and other Lean techniques
• Manage strict adherence to spending budgets in all departments and implement corrective action as required to ensure sound spending practices
• Assist in generating annual business plans with the Plant Controller
• Responsible to drive and create revenue opportunities through operational means and appropriately support the sales function
• Direct and controls labor efficiency, material efficiency, transportation, engineering effectiveness, customer service, and order entry efficiency, along with human utilization.
• Defines and recommends objectives in each area of operations. Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs geared toward operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Ten-plus years of leadership experience in a multisite manufacturing operations role
• A background in progressively responsible operations roles in a high-growth multi-site manufacturing environment
• A results-oriented leader with a proven track record in manufacturing operations
• Strong understanding of lean principles with the ability to drive lean
• Ability to travel approximately 25%

Education

An undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, preferably engineering, from an accredited university is required; an advanced degree is preferred
