If you value autonomy, self-directed but also work as a team member to reach goals and provide a great conferencing experience, this is the right opportunity for you.  This position will stretch your current skills, develop new skills and innovate conferencing experiences for on and off campus users.   The AV Sr. Systems Administrator requires experience in commercial Audio/Visual systems.


  • A basic level of IT knowledge in DNS, DHCP, basic IP networking and firewall knowledge, etc.

  • Ability to script and automate in some language e.g. node, Powershell, etc. to automate repetitive tasks.  

  • A comfort level with an "IT" focused approach to A/V. Pushing to get more functionality on the network instead of traditional platforms.

  • Knowledge of traditional video infrastructure (SIP/H.323 video.)   Experience with Poly is a plus

    • Understand signaling and troubleshooting of call set up and systems

    • Demonstrate knowledge of a cloud video providers, preferably Zoom.



  • Knowledge of in-room conferencing technology:

    • Control platforms such as Crestron (preferred), AMX, Extron, Kramer, etc. and the underlying technology used: IP, serial, IR, etc.

    • Video transport platforms:  From the most traditional (HDMI cables through a switcher) to last generation enterprise technology (Crestron DM, or other platforms that used CAT cabling) to modern enterprise technology (audio/video over IP, such as Crestron NVX).

    • Understanding what a scaler is, a bit about how video compression works, EDID, resolution and its problems (progressive vs interlaced video, for example) is a plus.

    • Audio concepts: Understanding what an audio DSP does, what purpose an amp serves, what echo cancellation and noise reduction are, etc.
