Collateral Review Analyst

Job Summary: Review and underwrite residential real estate appraisals to ensure support for value and adherence to mortgage lending guides.

Essential Job Functions


  • Perform Reviews of appraisals. Validate valuation techniques, supporting data and conclusions. Underwrite collateral in loan origination process.

  • Communicate review results in a timely and professional manner,

  • Maintain production consistent with team levels and goals.

  • Communicate asset-level quality control issues to Valuations Team Lead and/or Manager.

  • Assist other teams in the Underwriting group as needed. This may include sharing of market data or industry information and communicating issues or solutions. This also includes reputation management through professional behavior and courteous communications with other enterprise associates.

Essential Job Skills


  • Maintain working knowledge of all NewRez loan programs, as well as Complete knowledge and understanding of agency guidelines and requirements including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA

  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice

  • Knowledge of market theory

  • Understanding of real estate valuation techniques


  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) programs

  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Natural collaborative approach to decision-making

  • Maintain and cultivate an effective working relationship with internal and external customers

  • Clear understanding of the implications of customer service

  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner as established by company SLA's

  • Perform other duties and special projects as required

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment

  • Act as a role model of the company's values, acting in an ethical and professional manner in all respects

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment



Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors degree preferred, or work experience equivalency.

  • Actively Licensed or Certified Real Estate Appraiser preferred

  • 4 years in valuation, including minimum 2 years field experience appraising residential properties and 2 years experience in reviewing appraisals. National / Institution review experience preferred.
