Job Description:

The Nemours CARE (Children at Risk Evaluation) Program is seeking a Medical Assistant II to join our team at Rockland II. We serve children who are risk of neglect or abuse (i.e. physical, sexual), been the victim of a crime, witnessed a traumatizing event, have safety concerns and provide foster care evaluations. The Medical Assistant will also uniquely be interfacing with a multidisciplinary team of social workers, nurses, psychologists, attorneys, law enforcement and child protective service investigative caseworkers who are involved in abuse/criminal investigations. This population may have a wide range of medical and emotional needs; therefore, the candidate must be comfortable engaging with these diverse groups. We are requiring that the candidate obtains an understanding of the patient care population that is being treated in addition to abuse education throughout the year.

Primary Responsibilities:

***This candidate will function in both the PSRII and MAII roles.***

Clerical:


  • Greets patients and families at the clinical setting according to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers (name and date of birth).
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements at the time of patient check-in.
  • Confirm all patient personal demographic information
  • Confirm legal guardianship; prepare, complete consents and all other required documents
  • Confirm referral information for patient visit, if applicable
  • Scan insurance cards and other important documents
  • Managing incoming calls/referrals for appointment requests and scheduling
  • Direct communication with families and the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) members from DFS, Child Advocacy, Crime Victims Center
  • Arranging shuttle transportation to/from hospital, scheduling lab or vaccine appts
  • Receive and upload information from MDT members including requesting medical records from outside hospitals
  • Assist with photodocumentation during exams as requested and upload photos into secure files

    Clinical:



  • During exams, assist with the physical examination, to include chaperone, colposcopy and photodocumentation
  • Obtain required vitals as per the appointment type
  • Rooms patient ensuring appropriate documents are with the patient, including required diagnostic reports.
  • Documents reason for visit, chief complaint and initiates orders per protocol
  • Transcribe, collect, label and arrange for transportation of specimens.
  • Perform and document point of care testing.
  • Vaccine and medication reconciliation
  • Adhering to the Reliable Methods (i.e. cleaning rooms, equipment utilization)
  • Prepares exam rooms, clinic equipment and computer technology by maintaining/ordering inventory and supplies for the outpatient visit.
  • Confirmation calls and Covid Screenings via phone and in person

    Requirements:


  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Medical Assistant Certification: acceptable certifications are Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
  • Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
  • High School Diploma
  • Flexible hours as per the clinic/business needs; Cross coverage and training for other ambulatory areas; Maintaining Special Projects as assigned.
