Role and Responsibilities

POSITION & REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Group Leader, the Senior Buyer acts as the go to person for all commodities and facilitates peer problem solving to protect production. Responsible for purchasing and negotiation of assigned commodities from vendors, vendor management, and managing inventory fill rates while working with stakeholders. The Senior Buyer supports the development and implementation of strategic sourcing plans, builds relationships with vendors for cost reduction activities, and supports the production schedule. Additionally, the Senior Buyer manages engineering change implementations while monitoring obsolescence to ensure a proper change management. The person in this role must be familiar with a variety of procurement and material management concepts, practices, and procedures. He/she relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and can be relied upon as the subject matter expert, while demonstrating a high degree of interpersonal savvy and a customer service focused approach. The Senior Buyer performs a variety of complicated tasks, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as go to person for production or supplier issues:


  • Facilitate peer group problem solving to bring resolution

  • Coordinate with planners, production, stock room and other stakeholders for decision making

  • Act as vendor liaison in problem solving activities

  • Escalate as necessary for resolution

Lead the Procure-to-Receive process:


  • Implement the strategic sourcing plan elaborated with CVM's

  • Places Purchase Orders and manages quantities, prices and delivery dates according to planning requirements and SSP.

  • Ensures ECN's are applied on sourced parts, at the right time

  • Manages changes to PO's whenever necessary

  • Ensures the reception process is properly carried out

  • Researches and selects vendors to solicit quotes for items not covered by an SSP

  • Identifies cost reduction opportunities, achieves savings within area of responsibility, and reports on those actions.

  • Identify pricing agreements opportunities and implement them


Support the Source-to-Contract process:


  • Participates in the elaboration of the relevant Strategic Sourcing Plans led by CVM's.

  • Carries out supplier intelligence and share relevant information with other procurement teams.

Provide support to other departments:


  • Manages problems with Account Payables for invoice reconciliations

  • Resolves problems related to product quality, order inconsistencies (Costs, delays, etc.) and damaged products/packaging in collaboration with Quality Assurance Department

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree required; supply chain, finance, business administration or related discipline desired.

  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in sourcing or procurement buyer role with direct responsibility for supplier management and pricing/cost decisions required.

  • Knowledge of contracts, strategic sourcing and RFP processes.

  • Good analytical skills, ability to assimilate data and implement data-based solutions.

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and priorities.

  • Proven negotiation skills.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is a plus.

General:


  • Complies with and enforces all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures at CAE Healthcare.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with, and enforces legal and ethical standards including: CAE Code of Business Conduct, CAE policies and procedures, country laws and regulations, Federal and States or Provincial Laws, policies and standards.

  • Maintain security of all proprietary information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.
