The High School Graduation Coach works with counselors and administration to identify and provide interventions and support services to students that are at risk of not graduating on time, and to help ensure that students are college or career ready upon graduation. 

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

  • Maintains student database related to college career readiness and cohort management and tracking

  • Utilizes early warning indicators to identify high school students who are most likely at risk of not graduating; creates a database of at-risk students and tracks individual and subpopulation progress toward graduation

  • Works closely with teachers, counselors and administrators to develop systematic strategies and initiatives to identify and support students and collects data to determine effectiveness of strategies and initiatives

  • Works with teachers and counselors to develop Individual Learning Plans (IGPs) with academic and post-secondary goals including interventions to increase likelihood that at risk students will stay in school and graduate

  • Collaborates with teachers and administration to develop a transition program for 9th graders to successfully adapt to high school in the virtual environment

  • Connects students and their parents with the Family Resource Counselor to identify programs and social agencies throughout the community

  • Assists high school registrars, counselors, and Assessment & Accountability Manager in the collection and data entry of transcripts, state testing records, and college entrance exam scores, as may be needed

  • Maintain cohort tracking for students, including next steps for WD students for state accountability and graduation rate reporting

  • Assists counselors and District Testing Coordinator in identification of students that have not met the state testing component of the graduation requirement; assists teachers, counselors and administration in encouraging at risk students to enroll in state testing remediation sessions and retake state testing exams; documents retake opportunities as required by state regulation;

  • Communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student’s achievement, establishes and maintains a positive rapport with families; communicates regularly with parents and students at risk of not graduating.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities

  • Collaborates with peers in order to provide a positive experience for students;

  • Travels to and participate in professional development sessions and school outings;

  • Proctor state testing examinations;

  • Participates in the school’s self and peer evaluation programs;

  • Creates and manages a home office

  • Ability to clear required background check

Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate Arkansas state certification for high school teacher

OTHER REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 


  • Knowledge of state graduation criteria

  • Knowledge of community resources

  • Strong interpersonal skills with both in-person and electronic communication platforms and a customer service orientation

  • Ability to learn new technology skills quickly

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time including travel to the school office for collaboration and maintenance of records, state testing, professional development, outings and school planning meetings

  • Ability to pass required background check
