Job Description:

TITLE

Reliability Technician / E&I - Bakery

LOCATION

Scottsville, Kentucky

REPORTS TO

Technical Department Manager

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:


  • Safety is considered First for all project / work objectives

  • Able to manage time with minimal supervision

  • Understand and accept the responsibility of troubleshooting, and repairing defects on devices throughout the plant

  • Participate in Plant projects as resource for operations when needed

  • Assist in planning and completing maintenance action plans

  • Assist in planning and completing Annual shutdown maintenance activities

  • Track / monitor / communicate area PR / Quality attributes

  • Complete storeroom training and understand costs associated with breakdowns

  • Drive out breakdowns, using professional methods & quality workmanship

  • All programming / design changes, as needed, is communicated as a Test Request or through Change Management

  • Lead / develop team projects involving mechanical issues

  • Attend plant meetings (ex. 8:30 meeting) to provide information, when asked

  • Help develop mechanical skills and provide training for On-line mechanical reliability and Equipment Experts

  • Completion of equipment PMs, along with closing out PMs, & completing MAF cards, using current program

  • Complete Clarity Net (or comparable) on-line training courses

  • Provide Mechanical coverage for a 7-day rotating team (team to be selected after selection)

  • Must be willing to work on any team

  • Understand that when there is a need, flexible to change teams or shifts, to meet training and support for teams

  • Understand that issues may arise that requires working longer than a normal shift. (Every effort will be done to keep this to a minimum)

  • Willingness to work overtime on off-shift, when asked (As noted above, every effort will be worked to keep this to a minimum)

  • Understand in emergencies, the possibility or need to be called in to assist in breakdowns (Again, as noted above, every effort will be worked to keep this to a minimum)

  • Provide vacation coverage for Reliability techs on opposite rotations / shifts and schedule coverage for yourself when you are scheduling your vacation.

  • Participate in pass-down meetings and provide downtime information to the on-coming shift

  • Understand & accept that when needed, support as an operator on the team may be required

  • Will perform Mechanical tasks for minimum of 3 years from the beginning of

  • training unless advancing further into an advanced technical career path

  • Understand that upon selection, due to skills on a team, movement into the role

may be delayed until skills are brought to an acceptable level.


  • Must be willing to attend required technical courses at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College as directed by the JM Smucker Company. (Industrial Maintenance Courses)

  • Understand that any training outside of the plant, that the plant incurs costs from, if they leave JMS before 2 years after the training is completed, the person is responsible for paying back the cost of the training.

EDUCATION


  • High-school degree or equivalent is required

  • Post-secondary mechanical maintenance training is highly desirable

LANGUAGE SKILLS


  • Solid communication skills are required

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and lift. The employee is required to stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time.

  • The employee must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.

  • The employees must occasionally lift/push/pull or carry up to fifty (50) pounds, and should be able to lift 30-35 pounds on a frequent basis.

  • The employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis.

  • The employee must be able to work in a cold (40-50 degree) environment.

  • The employee must be able to tolerate exposure to flour and yeast materials.

  • The employee must be able to climb steps on a frequent basis.

  • The employee must be able to pass a PFT test.

VISION

Employee is required to have a minimum of 20/40 vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses. The applicant must pass a standard eye exam.
