Position Purpose:

The Pilot Ground Systems Instructor (GSI) is responsible for accomplishing all ground-based academic training of U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 Pilots, Aeromedical students, and Maintenance Engine Run students. The Pilot GSI will instruct in the classroom, Pilot Part Task Trainer (PTTP), Boom Operator Part Task Trainer (PTTB), Fuselage Trainer (FuT), Weapon Systems Trainer (WST), Boom Operator Trainer (BOT), and KC-46 Aircraft while measuring training progress and documenting performance of students who attend formal aircrew, aeromedical, and maintenance training courses.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct all Initial, Upgrade, and Requalification academic training using devices, such as a classroom, PTTP, PTTB, FuT, WST, and KC-46 aircraft.

  • Conduct Maintenance Engine Run course (MERQ) using devices such as classroom and WST.

  • Conduct other ground-based training, as required, for KC-46 crew members, as assigned to include Visual Threat Recognition and Avoidance Trainer (VTRAT).

  • Conduct briefings, debriefings, and perform counseling with Pilot-, Aeromedical, and Maintenance students to develop and maintain the highest level of technical acumen and proficiency.

  • Extract student data, analyze results, and prepare for student review sessions.

  • Serve as KC-46 Aircraft Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and other applicable personnel, as required.

  • Maintain exceptional standards of instruction, knowledge levels, capabilities, and expertise.

  • Develop and maintain exceptional knowledge of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.

  • Consistently display exceptional knowledge and application of instructional principles and theories pertaining to aircrew training systems.

  • Provide inputs for courseware corrections and modifications, along with updates to training policies and procedures.

  • Assist in other project and development work, as assigned.

  • Operate Learning Management System (LMS) and Graduate Training Integration Management System (GTIMS)

  • Conduct exams and prepare results.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:


  • Morally and ethically influence others to successfully achieve program goals.

  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Possess the ability to interface with students and provide on-the-spot remediation, or determine other courses of action, as necessary.

  • Possess basic knowledge of personal computers and software applications, such as word processing applications, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Successfully accomplish an annual internal standardization evaluation.

  • Currently possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.

Education and Formal Training:

Associate Degree, or equivalent education, experience, and training required. Aviation Mechanics, Flight Engineers, Navigators, or Weapon Systems Officers with at least 10-years of military experience in the associated position(s) are highly desired.

Experience:

Must have extensive aviation aircrew or aviation-related instructor experience commensurate with required training topics (aircraft systems). Familiarity with the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process is desired. Courseware development experience is highly desirable. Tanker and receiver experience as a Crewmember is highly desirable.
