Job Description:


Moffatt & Nichol is actively looking for a Sr. Dive Technician to join one of our West Coast U.S. offices. As a Sr. Dive Technician, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients around the world. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures through above and underwater engineering inspections.

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Maintenance/repair of scuba and SSA diving systems, boats and trailers, and underwater inspection equipment

  • Maintain records and conduct safety audits for system certifications and compliance with regulatory agencies

  • Tow and operate boats as platforms for engineer-dive inspections

  • Prepare Proposal, Safety Documents, and field notebooks for waterfront inspections

  • Partners with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects

  • Works collaboratively with all members of the dive group

  • Conducts inspections and assists in supervision of site investigations as needed

  • Analyzes deteriorated components, assess remaining capacities

  • Prepares or assists in preparation of report sincluding data entry, text writing and photo editing

  • Assists in preparation of plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates

  • Works collaboratively with members of all company disciplines

  • Performs other duties as required

  • Data entry/manipulation and technical writing skills for the preparation and review of inspection reports, proposals, etc

  • Experience with various project elements including planning, execution and follow-up

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or other industry related academics required

  • ADCI or equivalent Dive Certification required

  • Minimum 15+ years experience in dive inspection and/or other commercial dive operations related to port/harbor/waterfront engineering design required

  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong attention to detail, and ability to progress to team leadership;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Good planning, organizational and time management skills;

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

  • Mechanical and electrical understanding of marine systems to diagnose and/or perform small to moderate repairs (inboard/outboard gas and diesels engines, generators, air compressors, hydraulics systems, etc.)

  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, preferred

  • Experience in the maintenance of Kirby Morgan SSA helmets and other diving and/or boating equipment strongly preferred

  • Must have current US Passport and be able to obtain TWIC and RAPIDGate or similar credential allowing access to Military installations and maintain them in good standing

  • Due to client requirements, selected candidate must consent to and a pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug screening

  • Due to client requirements, selected candidate must show proof of U.S. citizenship as well disclose any dual citizenship status. A federal background check will be conducted

  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

This role requires diving in waters, working in office space, walking on unstable ground, and other exposure to extreme elements.

Physical requirements:

The role requires physical abilities to scuba dive and surface-supplied-air dive as is required by the job.
