Systems Engineer III at Bio-Rad Laboratories

Job Description:

Job requisition is for a new Engineering III position that will support QX Jr and QX600 project launches in 2021. Strong skills in prototype development, system troubleshooting, and technology evaluation are needed to fulfill this role.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have a combination of these technical skills:


  • Hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and characterizing electrometrical sub-systems for micro-fluidic processing, imaging, and analysis.

  • Experience analyzing system data and/or signal processing algorithms to optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Experience with liquid handling robotics including liquid class optimization, workflow design, and general troubleshooting. The experience can be with commercial systems or custom test rigs.

  • Experience or knowledge of product requirements and related design control concepts for product development is a plus. Experience with software tools such as Jira is also a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with automation related to molecular biology and biochemistry. Direct experience with qPCR, droplet PCR, and/or flow-cytometry is a plus.

  • Experience developing or characterizing systems architecture. This includes system timing, fluidic sequences, and other system level processes.

  • Software Application and Programming skills in C#, Python, Matlab, COMSOL, and/or Soildworks.

Qualifications


  • BS/MS in Engineering Discipline: Mechanical/Chemical/Bio or Equivalent is Required. PhD is Desirable

  • 5+ years' experience Developing and/or Sustaining Platforms for Bioanalytical Applications is Required. The Experience can be in either the Commercial or Research Areas.

  • Hands-on Experience with Pumps, Valves, Sensors, Feedback controls, and Firmware for Microfluidic Applications is Required. This includes Selection, Integration, or Troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on Experience with Automated Liquid Handing Systems is Highly Desirable.

  • Experience with Microfluidic Consumable Design and/or Integration is Desirable.

  • Programming skills in C# and Matlab is Desirable.

  • Experience with COMSOL or Solidworks is Desirable.

  • Working Knowledge of Statistics, DOE, DFSS, and Algorithm Optimization is Desirable.

  • Optical Assembly and Signal Processing Troubleshooting Experience for Fluorescent Applications is Desirable.

  • Experience with QSR/ISO Regulations, Agency Testing, and Usability Engineering is Desirable.
